This very interesting transfer has been adapted from an engraving by Hogarth. Apparently William Hogarth was sketching at the gates when he was arrested as a spy. It features Roast Beef at the Gate of Calais. Also featured is the Royal Coat of Arms pre-1800. Henry Fielding wrote a patriotic ballad featuring in his “The Grub Street Opera” which became a favourite in the taverns.<\/p>\n

The jug is 5’2 inches in height.<\/p>\n
