Rare Lambton & Powlett for ever Jugs. 1820 Durham Election. SOLD


When George III died in January 1820 Parliament was dissolved. These two election jugs saw the two Whig candidates elected with the unsuccessful Tory, Richard Wharton, being labelled as a keeper of the Rotten Boroughs.

Lambton who was known as Radical Jack apparently spent £30000 upon the election.
