Hogarth’s Roast Beef of Old England Creamware Jug. Price on application.

This very interesting transfer has been adapted from an engraving by Hogarth. Apparently William Hogarth was sketching at the gates when he was arrested as a spy. It features Roast Beef at the Gate of Calais. Also featured is the Royal Coat of Arms pre-1800. Henry Fielding wrote a patriotic ballad featuring in his “The Grub Street Opera” which became a favourite in the taverns.

The jug is 5’2 inches in height.
